The Annual Cancer Awareness Month, sponsored by the Belize Cancer Society (BCS) will be celebrated under the theme, “REMEMBER, CELEBRATE, FIGHT BACK” signifying:
REMEMBER - loved ones
CELEBRATE - the lives of survivors
FIGHT BACK - against cancer

The month will conclude on Saturday, May 31, 2008 with the Annual Cancer Walk. This will commence at 5:00 a.m. from Celina’s Store in Ladyville and finish at the Juliet Orosco Soberanis Cancer Centre, Mercy Lane, Belize City.

The Annual Cancer Walk is one of the largest events organised by the Belize Cancer Society and is very important both in raising awareness and in fundraising to help those who need financial assistance in their fight with Cancer.

As we did last year, we will be issuing pledge and sign-up sheets  to participants. I am therefore asking you to publicize this event within your organisation and encourage people to sign up. Each participant will be issued an ID tag number upon sign up in order to track donations given in the name of that participant. Last year several participants raised over $500 each in sponsorships and gained the yellow “Hero” T-shirt and many more raised over $50.00 and $100.00 to wear blue and green T-shirts and we are encouraging participants to raise as much as possible this year. We look forward to your assistance as we work together to promote prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.
